A long, widespread and participated party made up of music and culture. Once again this year, the events organised by Roma Capitale to toast the arrival of the new year confirmed their winning formula, selling out completely.
From the late afternoon of 31 December, Romans and tourists crowded the Circus Maximus esplanade for a great Roman night of music, entertainment and excitement, featuring an exceptional line-up: Tananai, Fabri Fibra and Alessandra Amoroso. Continuing until late at night, the free concert accompanied the audience in the countdown to the arrival of 1 January 2026: at midnight, the inevitable toast saw the mayor of Rome, Roberto Gualtieri, and the councillor for Major Events, Sport, Tourism and Fashion, Alessandro Onorato, take to the stage.
On 1 January, over 70,000 people chose to celebrate the start of the new year by taking part in the Roma Capodarte events: an extraordinary success with the public for an event now in its fifth edition and dedicated this year to the 80th anniversary of the Italian Constituent Assembly. After the traditional midday concert by the Roma Capitale Local Police Band in Piazza di Spagna, over a hundred events enlivened the city’s streets, squares, libraries and cultural spaces until late in the evening, involving Romans and visitors of all ages in comedy shows, DJ sets, milongas and street dances, readings, concerts, guided tours and activities for children.
Record numbers were also achieved by the civic museums and exhibition spaces of the Azienda Speciale Palaexpo (Palazzo Esposizioni Roma, MACRO and Mattatoio di Roma): a total of 23,000 visitors, two thousand more than last year.
