Leonardo da Vinci Airport has further consolidated its international leadership in the aviation sector: for the eighth time since 2018 (and for the fifth consecutive year), it is the best European airport in the category of airports serving over 40 million passengers.
This was decided by the general assembly of ACI EUROPE, the European section of the Airport Council International trade association, which each year awards the “Best Airport Award” to airports that have set themselves apart for their excellence in terms of staff, digital transformation, technological innovation and sustainability of airport infrastructure. Evaluations are carried out by an independent jury composed of 8 institutional representatives from the European aviation sector, including the European Commission, the intergovernmental civil and military organization EUROCONTROL, the European Union Aviation Safety Agency EASA, the European Civil Aviation Conference ECAC, and the public-private partnership SESAR Joint Undertaking.
The new European record further strengthens Leonardo da Vinci Airport’s leadership as the best hub for the service quality offered to passengers. The title was awarded last February (and continuously since 2017) by ACI World, based on passengers’ satisfaction levels recorded through the “Airport Service Quality” survey program, and confirms the strength of the “Fiumicino model”, which, in 2025, surpassed the 51-million-passenger threshold for the first time. On a global level, Fiumicino’s standing in Europe is further confirmed by its recent seventh-place finish in the World Airport Awards presented by Skytrax, the main aviation rating agency.
