Un Solo Mare Festival (One Sea Festival)

From February 11 to 15, 2026, the Auditorium Parco della Musica Ennio Morricone will host the first edition of Un Solo Mare (One Sea Festival), a new Festival produced by the Fondazione Musica per Roma, which aims to celebrate the sea, a shared heritage and irreplaceable resource.

The event is born from the need to create a space for discussion dedicated to this fundamental element of our planet, which occupies 70% of the planet's surface, regulates the climate, and produces half the oxygen we breathe. Seas and oceans are also home to most known life, the 90% of the Earth's biosphere, but they are also a system of currents, routes, and migrations, where natural phenomena and social mechanisms are constantly intertwined. Indeed, the sea, a vast expanse of water, is a transversal ecosystem, a route of communication and exchange between peoples, languages, and knowledge, the cradle of civilizations and trade routes that have shaped the history of humanity, a shared cultural heritage spanning centuries.

From the ocean depths to trade routes, from marine biodiversity to international governance, from technological innovation to the arts and storytelling: the sea reveals itself as a living and shared space, yet fragile, requiring knowledge, vision, and cooperation to experience and preserve it. But the sea is not only a resource, but also a symbolic and narrative space, capable of inspiring visions and imaginations. It is a place of stories and identities: from the routes that have connected and developed civilizations, those of the scientists and explorers who have uncovered and continue to uncover its secrets, those of the historians who reconstruct its history, the economists who study its opportunities, the athletes who challenge it, the writers and artists who narrate it. And, in an era marked by the climate crisis, pollution, and growing pressure on marine ecosystems, returning to reflect on the sea is essential to imagine a future that unites development, equity, and environmental protection.

Over the five days of the Festival, including conferences, workshops, exhibitions, shows, and family events, Un Solo Mare presents diverse perspectives on the sea: exploration, technology, biodiversity, climate change, coasts, and sustainability. The event aims to be a forum for citizens, businesses, institutions, and the scientific community to discuss energy, sustainable fishing, marine protected areas, innovation, and Mediterranean routes. It's an opportunity to reflect on future challenges, whether environmental, cultural, and social, that cross the oceans, and to imagine new strategies and forms of cooperation.

Un Solo Mare brings together the accredited and expert voices and the different perspectives of writers, professors, geopolitical experts, athletes, screenwriters, and more: all diverse figures, linked by a direct, lived, and conscious relationship with the sea. Finally, there are also events dedicated to the maritime economy or the arts, such as the Orchestra del Mare concert, featuring Maestro Nicola Piovani and Alessio Boni.

Produced by the Musica per Roma Foundation, with the project partnership of Codice Edizioni, the Un Solo Mare Festival, under the scientific direction of Professor Roberto Danovaro, is promoted by the Rome City Council – Department of Culture, with the patronage of the Department of Agriculture, Environment and Waste Management of Rome City Council. Its scientific partners include the CMCC – Euro-Mediterranean Center on Climate Change, the CNR – National Research Council, ENEA – National Agency for New Technologies, Energy and Sustainable Economic Development, ISPRA – Institute for Environmental Protection and Research, OGS – National Institute of Oceanography and Experimental Geophysics, the Marevivo Foundation, and ASviS – Italian Alliance for Sustainable Development. In collaboration with the National Technology Cluster "Blue Italian Growth" (CTN-BIG), the Libraries of Rome, and the Italian Navy. With the participation of the Casa dello Spirito e delle Arti Foundation and the Santo Versace Foundation. Cultural partners: Pianeta Mare Film Festival, Scuola Holden, and the Symbola Foundation.
