The famous street artist returns to the capital with a solo exhibition hosted in the new space of the Wunderkammern art gallery in the heart of the historic centre of Rome.
On display, a series of works focused on the theme of power, one of the dominant themes in Fairey's vision, and some unreleased works, personally selected by the artist, inspired by the most relevant themes of his career, between underground culture and political activism.
Shepard Fairey is an experimenter of multiple languages. His unique and daring style is based on the stylization and idealization of images and inspired by Russian Futurism and Constructivism. The eclectic artist is not only recalling past models but also using original and always different materials and techniques. On display are works made with collages, silk-screen printing on wood or aluminium, HPM on paper, vinyl covers.
Also known by the pseudonym OBEY THE GIANT, named after a famous 1989 sticker campaign, the South Carolina urban artist is a key figure in Street Art history. The works realized during his extraordinary career show changes and languages of this powerful artistic expression, inspiring a deep reflection on contemporary society in the viewer.
