The Associazione Sport e Società Progetto Filippide Roma, in collaboration with A.S.D. Lazio Olimpia Runners Team and under the patronage of Regione Lazio, Roma Capitale, CONI, CIP, FIDAL Lazio, FISDIR and the Associazione Vigili del Fuoco in Congedo (ANVVFC), looks forward to welcoming you to the Run for Autism – Viridiana Rotondi.
Conceived by Progetto Filippide in 2012, and organised ever since with the aim of raising awareness and drawing attention to autism, Run for Autism is today the only road race entirely dedicated to promoting awareness of Autism Spectrum Disorders not only in Italy, but across Europe.
The event brings together athletes from the various regional sections of Progetto Filippide, delegations from European Union countries that took part in the ECAP (European Competition for Autistic People) project in 2017, parent associations, schools, and numerous amateur running clubs from Rome.
It is an inclusive race, where athletes with autism and neurotypical athletes run side by side, sharing the same course and the same effort.
The ultimate goal of the race is to demonstrate how sport can provide people with autism the opportunity to express their abilities and skills, while enhancing their personal capacities and potential.
The official race distances, recognised at National FISDIR and Regional FIDAL level, are:
- Competitive race: 10.050 km
- Non-competitive race: 10.050 km
- Fitwalking, Nordic Walking, or free-pace walk: 4.800 km or 10.050 km, open to everyone.
The starting point is Piazza Bocca della Verità.
At 09:30, the competitive race and the 10.050 km non-competitive race will begin, followed by the other non-competitive distances for Fitwalking, Nordic Walking and free-pace participants.
Participants run along a five-kilometre route, which is completed twice by those taking part in the 10 km competitive and non-competitive races. The course winds through some of Rome’s most iconic landmarks, including Teatro di Marcello, Piazza Venezia, Fori Imperiali, Colosseo, and the Circus Maximus.
