A gathering for families, enthusiasts and anyone wishing to welcome the new year with enthusiasm, smiles and infectious energy. Music has the power to transform any space, and the marching bands parading through Rome’s most iconic locations will offer the world unforgettable images: glimpses of the city wrapped in sound, colour and vitality, reminding us that Rome is truly a universal heritage of beauty, capable of uniting different cultures and building bridges of peace through the power of art.
With the patronage of Roma Capitale, the parade returns this year to celebrate the new year with marching bands and cheerleading groups from the United States, joined by Italian ensembles – both classical and folkloric – in an ideal embrace between two worlds during the brightest days of 2026.
On 1 January from 3:30 p.m. onwards, Rome will be transformed into an immense open-air stage: from Piazza del Popolo to Piazza di Spagna, an explosion of music, choreography and colour will bring a vibrant spectacle to life. A mosaic of cultures which, as tradition dictates, will offer residents and visitors alike a unique experience to welcome the new year in a spirit of festivity and togetherness.
Among the American headliners are ensembles of great renown: from the Disco Amigos of New Orleans to the Key West High School Band of Florida; from the Mission San Jose High School Warrior Marching Band and Colour Guard to California’s Bloomington All Star Marching Band, Esperanza Flores Ballet Folklorico and Palm Springs High School Marching Band. Also taking part are Spirit of America Productions from Dallas, Waubonsie Valley High School and Lake Zurich High School Marching Band from Illinois, the Corning Painted Post High School Hawks Marching Band from New York, as well as Varsity Spirit All American, bringing together cheerleaders, dancers and performers selected at Varsity Spirit summer camps.
Performing alongside the US bands will be numerous Italian groups: from the Folkloristica Band of Bettolle to the Caferza of Giulianova, from the Frustica of Faleria to other musical ensembles that will enliven the route and engage locals and visitors in an atmospheric travelling concert.
Admission is free: an open invitation to everyone, from the youngest to the eldest, to share an unforgettable start to the year among the wonders of Rome, immersed in culture, joy and spectacle.
The programme is subject to change.
