The Rome Film Fest returns this October for its 20th edition, at the Auditorium Parco della Musica, involving numerous other venues and cultural institutions in the capital. Renzo Piano's building, however, remains the event's hub, housing the main screening rooms and the long red carpet, one of the largest in the world.
Since 2022, the Rome Film Fest has introduced an international competition into its regulations: films are judged by a jury composed of professionals from the world of cinema, culture, and the arts. The program also includes other non-competitive sections, meetings with the public, events, special screenings, and tributes.
The Artistic Director of the Film Fest is Paola Malanga, journalist and film critic, one of the founders of the magazine Duel and one of Paolo Mereghetti's main collaborators on the Dizionario dei Film (Film Dictionary), author of famous essays on some of the great authors of world cinema, and deputy director of Rai Cinema.
Paola Cortellesi chairs the international jury of the Progressive Cinema Competition, the competitive section of the Rome Film Fest—Best Film, Grand Jury Prize, Best Director, Best Screenplay, the “Monica Vitti” Award for Best Actress, the “Vittorio Gassman” Award for Best Actor, and the Special Jury Prize, chosen by the President and the jurors from among other categories—joined by Finnish director and screenwriter Teemu Nikki, the British director and screenwriter William Oldroyd, the American writer and illustrator Brian Selznick, and the French-Finnish actress Nadia Tereszkiewicz.
The event is organized by the Fondazione Cinema per Roma thanks to the support of its Founding Members, its Main Partner, BNL BNP Paribase, and the numerous partners who choose to support the Rome Film Fest every year by actively participating in the event's planning: a testament to the companies' commitment to supporting the Foundation's mission and values.
