Among the most significant events on both the national and international stage dedicated to the fight against breast cancer, Race for the Cure 2026 brings together sport, health and solidarity. Now in its 27th edition in Rome, the event confirms its status as a well-established benchmark for promoting prevention and safeguarding women’s health.
Scheduled from 7 to 10 May, the Race unfolds over four days packed with activities designed for a broad and diverse audience. Organised by Komen Italia, long active in the sector, the event stands out for its ability to engage institutions, the scientific community and the public, fostering a culture of informed and accessible prevention.
At the heart of the event are the Donne in Rosa (Women in Pink), a powerful testament to resilience and active participation. These are women who are facing or have faced the disease and who, through their presence, help raise public awareness of the importance of early diagnosis, while also offering a message of encouragement to the thousands of people affected by this condition each year.
The Health Village, set up at the Circus Maximus, represents a key hub providing free healthcare services, screenings and specialist consultations. Particular attention is given to more vulnerable groups, also through the use of dedicated mobile units that ensure fairer access to preventive services.
There is also a strong focus on psychophysical wellbeing, healthy nutrition and physical activity, with talks, classes and educational sessions. Meanwhile, the Conference Area hosts in-depth discussions and round tables with experts from the healthcare, academic and institutional sectors, encouraging high-level dialogue on public health and innovation in care models.
Special attention is also paid to younger generations, who are involved in educational and sporting activities designed to promote healthy lifestyles and greater awareness of prevention. The Sports Village further supports the spread of a culture of physical activity as a key element of individual and collective wellbeing.
Race for the Cure culminates on Sunday 10 May with the traditional 2 km walk, alongside the 5 km and 10 km non-competitive races and the 10 km competitive race. The closing ceremony includes a symbolic tribute to the Donne in Rosa.
The programme may be subject to change.
