Dedicated to one of the leading figures in Italian culture, who occupies a prominent place in the history of songwriting, the “Fabrizio De André - Parlare musica” Award was established in 2002. Its aim is to celebrate the Genoese singer-songwriter and, at the same time, to promote young and new talents who stand out for the originality of their compositions, both musical and poetic, stimulating free creativity uninfluenced by trends, genres and the market.
The award is sponsored by the Fabrizio De André Onlus Foundation and organised by iCompany, with Luisa Melis as artistic director. It encompasses three categories (“Music Award”, “Poetry Award” and “Painting Award”), which are assessed by a jury chaired by Dori Ghezzi and composed of writers, journalists, music critics and industry professionals.
The final of the award will be held on 13 and 14 September in the historic square named after the singer-songwriter in the Magliana district. The two evenings, with free admission, are promoted and supported by the Department of Culture of Roma Capitale with the Department of Cultural Activities, in collaboration with the Municipality of Rome XI and the organisational support of Zètema Progetto Cultura. The final, hosted by Paolo Talanca, will feature the winners of the Targa Faber (Luca Marinelli and Mauro Pagani) and the Targa Quelli che cantano Fabrizio (the award for reinterpretations of De André’s works, awarded this year to Luca Marinelli, Bresh and The Andre), as well as the winners of the poetry section (Elena, with the work “Nackt und Kleinkind”) and the painting section (Luli, with the work “Il Volo”) and the finalists of the music section (Federico Baldi, Sasà Calabrese, Edoardo Chiesa, Cinus, Claudio Covato, Fabula, Christian Gullone, Giulia Imperato, Le Nora, Carlo Valente).
During the final, Luca Marinelli and The Andre will perform together and, like Bresh, will be accompanied by Fabrizio De André’s historic band. Several special guests will also take to the stage: Antonio Rezza and Flavia Mastrella, Andrea Rivera, Santoianni (winner of last year’s music section), Marcondiro and Nour Eddine (winners of the Amnesty International Award).
