The PMCE - Park of Contemporary Music Ensemble directed by Tonino Battista, offers two concerts that are out of the ordinary for their beauty and rarity: Sortie vers la lumière du jour by Gérard Grisey and the world premiere of Michelangelo Lupone As variants poles, a creation for the ArteScienza Festival.

Composed by Grisey in 1978 for electric organ and fourteen performers, Sortie vers la lumière du jour is inspired by the Book of the Dead of the Egyptian tradition. In the work, in which the mystical-existential aspect prevails, the author elaborates a series of artifices such as metaphorical maps that help him to reveal the musical substance of the sacred text. Prominent exponent of the so-called "spectral" music in the 1970s in France, Gérard Grisey in fact conceived music as an act of cosmic revelation, of vision of the unknown and of the sacred. Through the graphic indications to be given to the instrumentalists, musical writing was intended as an expression of the image of the sound spectrum, giving rise to a research that was permeated with a metaphysical and transcendent nature. The world premiere of Michelangelo Lupone's piece As variants poles for fifteen instruments, on the other hand, constitutes "the translated image of a cosmos in constant evolution" as the author himself states. In this composition five sounds are considered as poles of attraction and transformation of the surrounding sound events; each pole is made up of micro-events that combine with each other in an articulated musical texture characterized by timbral, rhythmic and pitch variations.

The PMCE, born from the collaboration between ArteScienza and Fondazione Musica per Roma, makes use of great performers, among the best on the international scene, who have worked closely with famous composers and have also contributed to the realization of projects in prestigious international contexts.
