From 29 May to 2 June, Piazza Anco Marzio in Ostia will become the centrepiece of a major initiative celebrating the local area through the Giro d’Italia, live music, comedy and large-scale events.
Rome is turning its attention to the coastline, bringing new energy to Ostia with an ambitious cultural project. The initiative combines entertainment, music and urban regeneration, placing the seaside district at the heart of the capital’s cultural calendar.
This vision comes to life with the launch of the Ostia Festival, a five-day programme running from 29 May to 2 June, transforming Piazza Anco Marzio and the town centre into a widespread open-air stage dedicated to community participation, culture and local identity.
Opening the festival will be Ostia in Rosa, two free evenings taking place in Piazza Anco Marzio on 29 and 30 May at 9pm, featuring two of Italy’s best-loved comedy performers: Gabriele Cirilli and Antonio Giuliani. The events will celebrate the passage of the Giro d’Italia along the Roman coastline.
From 31 May to 2 June, the Ostia Jazz Festival will showcase a rich line-up of acclaimed artists and productions, including Danilo Rea, Rosalia De Souza, the Francesco Bruno 4Tet, Valter Paiola & Califano Latino Orchestra, alongside the Blues Session events curated by the Alexanderplatz Jazz Club. The programme will bring music and entertainment to Piazza Anco Marzio and venues across the town centre.
