The concert by Omar Sosa and Marialy Pacheco at the Auditorium, presents their latest album Manos and is also a tribute to the musical roots of Cuba, the birthplace of the two extraordinary pianists.
A truly special occasion to listen to the music of Omar Sosa, one of the most innovative Cuban artists of the last twenty years, together with that of Marialy Pacheco, a highly talented musician: four hands and four feet in a whirlwind interplay between forte and pianissimo with electronic effects creating a magnetic atmosphere, to reach a very exciting and engaging final effect.
Omar Sosa, Cuban composer and pianist, born in 1965, has been nominated seven times for the Grammys, and is considered one of the most versatile and complete jazz players of his generation. He has collaborated with Paolo Fresu, Yilian Canizares, Ernesticco, Seckou Keita, Adam Rudolph and many other important musicians.
Marialy Pacheco, born in 1983 into a family of musicians and originally from Havana, began studying piano from an early age at the Alejandro García Caturla Conservatory. At fifteen he continued his musical studies at the Escuela Nacional de Artes and studied composition at the Instituto Superior de Artes in Havana. Marialy is currently considered one of the most interesting current musicians, the first woman to have won the Piano Solo Competition at the Montreux Jazz Festival. Her style is characterized by a blend of traditional Cuban music, Afro-Cuban rhythms and contemporary jazz.
