The show staged at the Sala Umberto Theater, played by Antonello Avallone, takes up the plot of the monologue of the same name written by Barricco, from which the film The Legend of the Pianist on the Ocean was based.
The story stars Danny Boodmann T. D. Lemon Novecento, pianist on the Virginian ocean liner: abandoned on the ship by emigrants, he is raised by one of the members of the orchestra. His small world includes the steamer, the sea and the music of the piano that he soon learns to play.
Novecento has never come to the mainland where he is unable to live and decides to stay on the Virginian where he travels a lot with his imagination and, over the years, becomes a famous jazz pianist.
Antonello Avallone, thanks to his talents as a great actor, manages to make the character of Novecento his own and his monologue is full of poetic, dramatic, surreal and ironic elements that lead the spectators through the most intimate emotions and feelings; his is the story of a dreamy pianist, capable of playing wonderful music.
The background of jazz music gives color to the show often becoming almost the protagonist of the story.
