There is a bar, somewhere between reality and dreams, where the air smells of wine, laughter and songs that never die. It is called Bar Califfo, and behind the counter, instead of a usual barman, Franco Califano seems to be smiling.
Here, among half-full glasses and light-hearted notes, the guys from Orchestraccia arrive with their infectious energy and sincere Roman spirit that smacks of the streets, theatre and poetry.
After the success of Trattoria Orchestraccia, the band returns to the Teatro Olimpico for a new journey into the heart of Italian music. But this time it's not just a show: it's a gathering. A collective toast to the “Califfo”, to the man and their myth, to the poet who wrote and sang about life in all its nuances — from the sweetest melancholy to the most shameless and sometimes bitter irony.
At Bar Califfo, the “shady characters” of Orchestraccia wander around, recounting endless evenings spent in taverns, accompanied by guitars and weary smiles inspired by the great and much-missed poet of Italian song, author of so many unforgettable masterpieces.
And in a play on words and notes, they weave a sincere, ironic and moving tribute, giving the audience the truest portrait of Califano: that of a man who lived without masks, free and in love with life.
On stage, Marco Conidi with his unmistakable voice, Guglielmo Poggi, Angelo Capozzi, Salvatore Romano, Fabrizio Fratepietro, Alessandro Vece, Emanuele Bruno, Mario Caporilli and Claudio Mosconi give life to a story that is at once a concert, a confession and a celebration.
One hundred minutes of music and theatre, laughter and nostalgia, and that light-heartedness that only the greats and their interpreters can offer. And when the curtain falls, only one thing is certain: that even today, we never tire of the Califfo. The rest — as he well knew — is just boredom.
The programme may be subject to change.
