Trumpets, brass, and percussion of the Conservatorio Statale di Musica Santa Cecilia accompany us on a unique journey through the passage of time to the notes of the great masters of music.
Held in the Lateran Palace, the concert proposes a journey from the Renaissance to the 20th century, starting with Monteverdi and his famous Toccata dell'Orfeo, the first example of the use of the trumpet in the orchestra. The concert passes through the Baroque repertoire to Morricone with his renowned cinematographic themes and Hazell's less-known songs, now part of the 'Brass' repertoire dedicated to the first world-famous ensemble: The Philips Jones Brass Ensemble.
In addition to making us live the emotions of music in an exclusive place rich in history and artistic treasures, Lo splendore degli Ottoni contributes to social inclusion projects. The proceeds go to Next Gen Together, a project of the Diocese of Rome for the suburbs' social and digital inclusion.
The event allows visiting the Lateran Palace through the evocative representative rooms of the ancient residence of the Popes, such as the great Sala della Conciliazione where the Lateran Pacts were signed and the Popes’ private apartments opened for the first time in history.
