On the occasion of the Jubilee 2025, the Councillorship for Major Events, Sport, Tourism and Fashion supports the two-year project Dante's Comedy for St. Peter's.After last year's performance of the first cantica - INFERNO, in June the second cantica - PURGATORIO will be staged.
In September (16-17-18) it will be the turn of the third cantica - PARADISE.
Directed and performed by Franco Ricordi, with the support of Roma Capitale.
Here are the June appointments:
Tuesday 17 June, 9 p.m. - First Canto Vision of Being: Dante and Virgil towards the East, the enchanted mountain, Cato, Casella, Manfredi, Belacqua, Sordello and the invective against Italy.Wednesday 18 June, 9 p.m. - Antipurgatory and entry into the circles: pride and envy with Sapìa; Marco Lombardo and the corruption of the world, Hadrian V, the encounter with Stazio, then among the gluttonous and the lustful.Thursday 19 June, 9 p.m. - The Earthly Paradise, Matelda, Virgil's abandonment and Beatrice's entrance; Dante's shame, his repentance, the final purification; the fren de l'arte and the disposition to ascend to the stars.
