The international indoor tamburello season reaches its climax and finds its perfect stage in Rome.
The Italian capital welcomes athletes, teams and fans from across the globe for the Indoor Tamburello World Championship 2026, one of the most prestigious events on the sport’s international calendar.
The Indoor Tamburello World Championship 2026 is far more than a sporting competition. Tamburello is deeply rooted in Italian history and tradition: it emerges as an evolution of ball games already played in the Middle Ages and initially spreads through the squares and streets of Northern Italy, before establishing itself as a fully regulated sport between the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.
Alongside the traditional open format, the indoor variant develops over time, distinguished by faster-paced play, high technical intensity and indoor venues. This evolution plays a decisive role in the international expansion of Tamburello, making it an increasingly dynamic and spectacular sport.
Today, Tamburello is played in numerous countries around the world and stands out as one of Italy’s sporting excellences on the international stage, combining tradition, modernity and entertainment. The Indoor World Championships serve as a key reference point for athletes and enthusiasts alike, offering a showcase of the highest technical standards.
The Indoor Tamburello World Championship 2026 takes place from 26 February to 1 March 2026, featuring a packed schedule of matches across three sports arenas in Rome. More than 15 nations from four continents take part, confirming the sport’s continued growth worldwide.
The event venues include Palatolive and Palatorrino, which host matches from 26 to 28 February, and Palapellicone, the setting for games on 27 and 28 February as well as the finals on 1 March, the pinnacle of the championship.
Over four days of competition, national teams face each other in a series of intense and thrilling encounters, showcasing athletic preparation, individual skill and team spirit, culminating in the awarding of the world titles in the eagerly awaited finals.
The event represents a key fixture for the international tamburello movement and for Italian sport as a whole.
Once again, Rome confirms itself as the ideal stage for world-class events, while the host arenas become the beating heart of a competition that brings together history, passion and the future, celebrating a sport that continues to grow and make its mark well beyond national borders.
