The US team, the Harlem Globetrotters, returns to Rome with their most legendary tour ever, a show celebrating their 100-year history with incredible acrobatics, behind-the-back passes and gags with opponents and referees, dribbles, spins, spectacular gravity-defying dunks, game-changing tricks and moments of pure fun.
Founded in 1926 in Illinois by Abe Saperstein, the Harlem Globetrotters have played more than 26,000 games around the world in their 100-year history. They are “ambassadors of basketball” and “messengers” of peace, hope and inclusion since 1950, the year of their first international tour, which took them to over 120 countries (including Russia during the Cold War). The team is part of the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame; their ranks included players such as Nathaniel “Sweetwater” Clifton, the first Black player in the NBA in 1950, Wilt Chamberlain, the highest scorer in an NBA game with 100 points, Reece “Goose” Tatum, Jamario Moon and Olympic gold medalist Lynette Woodard, the first woman to join the team in 1985, opening the brand to a new audience and a new generation. Their unique style, combining technical skill, spectacle and humor, has made them one of the most loved and followed teams in the world: their honorary members include such illustrious figures as Henry Kissinger, Nelson Mandela, Whoopi Goldberg and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.
To celebrate their centenary, the basketball showmen take to the court at the Palazzetto dello Sport - PalaTiziano with a completely revamped show and new uniforms designed by Jeff Hamilton, which perfectly embody the history and identity of the American team. Along with your ticket, you can purchase the Magic Pass, an exclusive experience that allows you to meet and play with the legends of the Harlem Globetrotters, and the Celebrity Court Pass, which allows you to watch the pre-game warm-up just like a real player.
