Giro d’Italia – Family Ride

The Giro d’Italia lights up Rome with the Family Ride: sport, celebration and cycling through the heart of the city

As the Grand Finale of the 2026 Giro d’Italia approaches, Rome is preparing to welcome a new edition of the Family Ride, the free event designed for families, children and cycling enthusiasts eager to enjoy a day dedicated to sport, wellbeing and community spirit.

The event will take place on Sunday 31 May, when the streets of the capital’s historic centre will be transformed into a large urban cycling route, allowing participants to experience the unique atmosphere of Italy’s iconic pink race.

The ride will begin at 11:15am from Viale delle Terme di Caracalla and finish beneath the official Giro d’Italia arch after a 6.8-kilometre route suitable for participants of all ages.

The Family Ride was created to encourage a more active and sustainable lifestyle while giving both locals and visitors the opportunity to cycle through one of the world’s most spectacular urban settings in an atmosphere of celebration and collective participation.

All registered participants will receive an official event T-shirt to wear during the ride. The T-shirt and race bib can be collected on 28, 29 and 30 May from the Decathlon store selected during registration.

Participants are required to bring their own bicycle, while the use of a helmet, although not compulsory, is strongly recommended.

The Family Ride is promoted by Roma Capitale and RCS Sport in partnership with Decathlon, confirming its place as one of the most anticipated side events of the Giro d’Italia and a unique opportunity to experience the city from a different perspective through sport, social connection and a passion for cycling.
