On 21 June, Festa della Musica 2020 (the Music Festival of Rome 2020) is back in its 35th edition, dedicated to Maestro Ezio Bosso who recently passed away. Bosso was an honorary citizen of Rome since June 2019, and the whole city will ideally greet him with free performances of any musical genre.
Musicians, enthusiasts, and amateurs above all, are invited to celebrate the arrival of Summer by playing and singing in their own homes, from the windows or the balconies, in a spontaneous sharing, that takes inspiration from the flash mobs to which all Italy participated during the lockdown. This edition wants to embrace the principles of joy and sharing, freedom and love for the music of the first 1982 France festival, combining them with the historical moment we are experiencing.
The 2020 Festival was designed with rigorous attention to respect for physical distancing and ban on gatherings, according to the health regulations envisaged to contain the epidemic of COVID-19.
To participate, register on the official website, record your performance or perform it directly live on social networks on 21 June, spreading it in both cases with the hashtag #FDMRoma2020. Participations are free, without any limit to the musical proposal, that can range from classical to reggae, from electronics to pop.
Just one recommendation: the performances must take place in compliance with any building and neighbourliness rules.
Festa della Musica 2020 is promoted by Roma Capitale, Assessorato Crescita culturale, Dipartimento Attività Culturali, is organized in collaboration with SIAE and joins Festa della Musica of the Ministry for Cultural Heritage and Activities and Tourism, Associazione Italiana per la Promozione della Festa della Musica (national coordination).
