Shows, meetings, music, games and workshops. As old as the world are the celebrations of the return of light after the long winter.
In ancient Rome, at the time of the winter solstice, the feast of Natalis Solis Invicti was celebrated, associated with the rebirth of Apollo and the Sun, after the darkest period of the year.
It was from this feast that the idea of 25 December as the date of birth of Jesus took its cue.
In 350 AD, Christmas was then established in Rome to give the ever-increasing number of Christians living in the city the opportunity to celebrate the rites of the nativity.
Facciamo festa!, organized by the Municipality of Roma I Centro, celebrates the Christmas holidays to recover the sense of community and to fully experience the area for 13 unmissable days with 17 events, shows, concerts, and activities for children and families on the slopes of the Rione Monti and an extraordinary view of the Colosseum.
