The National Gallery of Ancient Art in Palazzo Barberini hosts the suggestive exhibition dedicated to Disney masterpieces, the timeless stories that have enchanted world audiences for about a century.
The exhibition presents some precious original works from the archives of the historical company, the preparatory sketches - focused on the exploration of characters, settings and narrative plots - and tells the creative process and the careful documentation work necessary to give life to thousands of iconic images: from Robin Hood to The Sword in the Stone, from Hercules to Pinocchio, from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs to Sleeping Beauty, from Cinderella to The Little Mermaid, up to the recent Frozen 2.
Same emotions as always for stories that have their roots in myth, medieval legends, folklore and fairy tales, constituting the narrative heritage of different world cultures. On the other hand are constantly evolving production tools, from hand drawing to digital animation, with the same long and brilliant teamwork.
The path is an immersive journey into the Disney universe: it provides the "tools of trade" to put yourself in the shoes of an animation artist using the same techniques as Disney Studios. You can immerse in the "behind the scenes" and become a real storyteller through interactive workstations and an installation that evokes the scenarios of animated stories that have entered the collective imagination of each generation.
The exhibition is promoted and produced by 24 ORE Cultura-Gruppo 24 ORE,curated by the Walt Disney Animation Research Library with the collaboration of Federico Fiecconi, historian and critic of comics and animation cinema.
