The first act of Die Walküre (The Valkyrie) is staged at the Palladium Theater, with the Roma Tre Orchestra conducted by Sieva Borzak. The opera, which forms the second work of the Tetralogy Der Ring des Nibelungen (The Ring of the Nibelungs), was first performed at the Court Theater in Munich in 1870.
The drama tells about the story of the love between Wotan's two children, Siegmund and Sieglinde. This feeling, however, is forbidden, because the two are twin brothers and because she is married to Hundig, whom she does not love, but Siegfried is destined to be born from this union, the main character of the entire Nibelungen Saga, the hero who will lead to the destruction of the world of gods.
The evening offers us over an hour and a half of monumental, exciting music that captures the viewer, bringing him into a mythological atmosphere, through a narrative characterized by universal, always current themes, in the conflict between public morality and the private sphere of feelings, in the sense of a superior justice capable of transcending the earthly laws of men.
With Charles-Isaac Denis (Siegmund), Martina Parravano (Sieglinde), Yongheng Dong (Hundig).
