The concert at the Botanical Garden, which is part of the IUC - Istituzione Universitaria Concerti, features the Dedalo Quintet and presents two small masterpieces of Romantic music: the Quintet in F minor for piano and strings, P 35 by Ottorino Respighi, composed in 1902, but not very well known to the general public, and the famous Quintet op. 34 by Johannes Brahms, published in 1865, considered the cornerstone of the quintet repertoire.
The juxtaposition of these two works allows us to appreciate how the romantic style that unites both pieces has been interpreted and expressed in different ways over a distance of 50 years and in two different geographical and cultural areas, such as Italy and Germany.
The Dedalo Quintet is a group of young musicians, born in 2021 within the walls of the Verdi Conservatory of Turin from a chamber music course under the guidance of Maestro Carlo Bertola. The enthusiasm leads the group to continue studying the repertoire by performing for various Turin venues and soon the Quintet becomes increasingly close-knit and broadens its perspectives, arriving, to date, to be admitted to the class of Maestro Bruno Giuranna and to hold concerts in Italy and abroad. The Dedalo Quintet was selected by the Accademia Musicale Chigiana Foundation of Siena to take part in the Young Italian Musical Talents in the World project.
