The Museo Nazionale Romano in Palazzo Altemps hosts the exhibition by Corrado Veneziano dedicated to Giovanni Battista Cavalcaselle, one of the most innovative, original, and passionate Italian art historians.
Curated by Francesca Barbi Marinetti, the captivating exhibition path winds through 24 impressive artworks, some of which are in direct dialogue with the splendid halls and statues of the Palace, with which Veneziano, through his extraordinary pictorial, study and research work, presents a contemporary overview of the revolutionary "investigations" into Italian Medieval and Renaissance art by the Veronese artist.
In a homage to one of modern art criticism founding fathers, the artist revisits the art historian's famous sketches and notebooks and, going backwards, gives a new visual interpretation and energy to the works of art of great artists, such as Cimabue, Antonello da Messina, Piero della Francesca and Raphael, accompanying them with Cavalcaselle's typical notes and scientific deductions.
