The director, writer and artist Andrea Barzini presents his new exhibition entitled Cameroon displayed at the MO.C.A. Gallery of Rome. Inside the Roman gallery, 35 works (oil on cardboard) inspired by the recent trip to Africa of the well-known director are exhibited, which on 20 June will be auctioned to finance the African music school "As'a Telong Music Academy ( ATMA)”, founded, directed and managed (without public funds) by guitarist As'a Telong.
During his trip to Cameroon in fact, Barzini had the opportunity to meet the African musician and was favorably impressed by his art and passion for his work. Master As'a Telong is considered an important personality in the city of Tzchang: his career boasts collaborations with important African artists including Fela Kuti, Boncana Maiga, Aisha Kone and many others from Nigeria, Ivory Coast and Benin and he has long been involved in independent music production. His music, marked by an out of the ordinary rhythm, is characterized by rock, blues, swing and jazz influences.
The works on display in the exhibition - created through the use of a minimal chromatic range - are the result of direct observations of landscapes and moments of daily life, of places far from Western values and rhythms, immersed in a natural landscape and lush vegetation. During the inauguration, those present have the opportunity to attend the live performance of Alberto Dentice, journalist, music lover and guitarist together with Madya Djebate, Mandingo kora player.
The exhibition therefore, represents an opportunity for art enthusiasts and collectors not only to admire Andrea Barzini's works but, at the same time, to contribute to a noble cause.
