On 6 May, the renowned Russian pianist returns to the Auditorium Parco della Musica Ennio Morricone for a highly anticipated recital in the Chamber Music Season of the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia.
After a selection of short pieces, which highlight the refined and intense nuances of his interpretative style, the virtuoso musician performs two splendid works by Chopin and Schubert, two of the greatest Romantic composers.
The first part of the programme is dedicated to Chopin’s iconic Sonata No. 2, one of the Polish master’s most emblematic compositions, which includes the famous ‘Funeral March’ with its extraordinary dramatic and emotional intensity.
In the second part, Arcadi Volodos takes the audience on a journey into Schubert’s world, performing Sonata D894, the Austrian composer’s masterpiece, also known as the “Fantasie”.
Born in 1972, the pianist is considered a unique artist for the variety of colours in his moving, expressive interpretations, combined with prodigious technique and profound musicality.
A storyteller and poet of the piano, Volodos made his debut in New York in 1996 and, throughout his exceptional career, has worked with the world’s leading orchestras, including the Berliner Philharmoniker, the London Philharmonia Orchestra, the Orchestre de Paris, and the Boston and Chicago Symphony Orchestras.
