Another violin concert, this time with Lisa Batiashvili, an artist with whom Antonio Pappano regularly collaborates: in addition to the world première of Dosàna nóva, by the Venetian composer Claudio Ambrosini, Pappano conducts the Orchestra of the National Academy of Santa Cecilia and the great violinist in the Violin Concerto No.3 by Camille Saint-Saëns and in the Symphony No.4 by Johannes Brahms.

Dosàna nóva, commissioned by the National Academy of Santa Cecilia to Claudio Ambrosini, is a composition in which the idea of "iridescent" sound is highlighted, that is, the continuous transformation of instrumental timbres, the use of sound perspectives, the creation of illusions acoustics (which Ambrosini calls: “trompe-l'oreille”). Aspects of the latter, to be conveyed in the creation of a form, a flow of energy, to highlight the profound meaning of the title Dosàna nóva, which in Venetian means "new wave”.

The third and final Violin Concerto by Camille Saint-Saëns, completed in 1880 and dedicated to the violinist Pablo de Sarasate, was performed for the first time that same year by the Hamburg Philharmonic. The concert is divided into three distinct movements: Andantino quasi allegretto; Molto moderato e maestoso. The first movement, conceived in sonata form, alternates passionate passages with very delicate lyrical moments; from the second movement, a barcarolle reminiscent of Italian melodies, we move on to the final movement, intense and rich in sonority.

The Symphony in E minor op. 98 n.4 finally, is the last of the four symphonies of Johannes Brahms, composed in 1885, is considered by many to be one of the greatest masterpieces of the great German composer and is divided into the movements: Allegro non troppo-Andante moderato-Allegro giocoso- Allegro energico e appassionato.

Lisa Batiashvili, a very talented Georgian violinist, was artist-in-residence at the New York Philarmonic Orchestra and the National Academy of Santa Cecilia and is known for the style and natural elegance of her sound.
