Aladin - Il Musical Geniale

The Teatro Brancaccio hosts the fun, magical, and colourful show conceived and directed by Maurizio Colombi, inspired by the famous oriental novel from the Thousand and One Nights collection, one of the most beautiful timeless fairy tales.

Designed for an ageless audience, the musical, produced by Alessandro Longobardi, traces the adventures of the sly and light-hearted Aladin, the beautiful Jasmine, the Genius of the lamp, the Genius of the ring, the powerful and evil Jafar, the Sultan's advisor, and Aladin's mother. New characters make the story even more compelling: Abdul, Aladin's thief friend; Aisha, Jasmine’s maid; Coco, the trained monkey; Skifus, Jafar's assistant; guards and concubines.

The romantic setting characterised by splendid Middle Eastern atmospheres is enriched by Bollywood-style contaminations in the original music, musical arrangements, choreography and costumes.
In addition to the songs specially composed by Davide Magnabosco, Alex Procacci and Paolo Barillari, the music ranges from Cheb Khaled's pop raï to a medley of international hits.

The set design by Alessandro Chiti is of great visual impact, consisting of 24 scene changes that appear and disappear as if by magic with a spectacular lighting design curated by Christian Andreazzoli. Erix Logan's evocative special effects enhance the landscapes and settings. Among them are the spectacular flight of Aladin and Jasmine on the flying carpet and the apparitions and disappearances of the two geniuses.

The new production presents a partially renewed cast with 20 performers, directed by the choreographer Rita Pivano. The costumes are by Francesca Grossi, the musical direction by Davide Magnabosco, the sound design by Emanuele Carlucci, and the video contributions by Claudio Cianfoni.
