On Saturday 21 June, on the occasion of the summer solstice, Rome will be crossed by the notes, sounds and rhythms of the Festa della Musica 2025. In fact, Rome Capitale renews this year the appointment with the great European event that since 1982, the year of its birth in France, and then with the subsequent diffusion throughout Europe since 1985 (European Year of Music), transforms the cities into an open-air stage. In the Municipalities of Rome, from the center to the suburbs and up to the coast of Ostia, about 50 concerts for a hymn to widespread music that will embrace all musical genres, from baroque to folk, from rock to indie, and that will give voice to local artists, emerging talents and prominent figures of the music scene.

The Festa della Musica 2025 takes place in places of great historical and cultural value, from the courtyards of the buildings in the heart of the city to historic villas. And again, archaeological parks and open-air theaters act as stages for performances at sunset. Even the squares of the suburbs, the streets, the local markets and the subway stops will come alive with performances by bands, choirs and soloists.

An edition that looks to the future and in particular to 2026. With the program of this year's edition, the RIM 2026 - Roma In Musica project was presented today in Campidoglio, with the artistic direction of the Roman singer-songwriter Daniele Silvestri, who took part in the press conference with the Mayor of Rome Capital, Roberto Gualtieri, and the Councilor for Culture, Massimiliano Smeriglio.

The protagonist of this 2025 edition of the Festa della Musica, as announced, is Ostia which, as part of the Un Mare di Cultura project, becomes the stage for the initiative promoted by the Department of Culture of Rome Capital with two free concerts at the free Ocra beach, on Lungomare Duca degli Abruzzi. At 7 pm, the Flowing Chords will take to the stage, a choral project born at the Saint Louis College of Music in Rome, directed by Mª Margherita Flore. The orchestra - composed of 35 elements including sopranos, mezzo-sopranos, contraltos, tenors, basses and a rhythm section of vocal beat box - will perform a repertoire that explores many musical genres, from pop to R&B. Following, at 8 pm, it will be the turn of the Pink Puffers, the brass band that, since 2006, has brought rhythm, energy and dance all over the world, from Italy to the United States, with original music contaminated by jazz, funk and rock sounds.

Also not to be missed, at 8:30 pm at Villa di Massenzio on the Appian Way, L’Amor che move il sole e le altre stelle. The evocative imperial villa, where archaeological evidence coexists harmoniously with the biodiversity of the Roman countryside, is transformed into an exceptional stage for the concert of the Jubilus Ensemble, directed by Roberto Manuel Zangari, which investigates the various facets of love. The program includes melodies by Banchieri and Arcadelt, madrigals by Claudio Monteverdi and Vittoria Aleotti, motets from the Song of Songs by Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina. The closing performance will be the song We Beheld Once Again the Stars by Randal Stroope based on the last canto of the Inferno of the Divine Comedy. The event, curated by Francesca Romana Cappa and Marina Marcelli, is proposed by the Capitoline Superintendency of Cultural Heritage in collaboration with Zètema Progetto Cultura. Free admission without reservation until seats are taken.
