The Great Beauty appears as the first Italian film in the ranking of the 100 best features of the XXI century, written by the Guardian. In fact, the famous film by director Paolo Sorrentino, winner of an Oscar in 2014, ranks 17th on the list of the illustrious newspaper.
The film, masterfully played by Toni Servillo, stars Jep Gambardella, a journalist and writer in his sixties in creative crisis, immersed in worldly events and troubled by a contemporaneity that he does not understand; disconcerted by the cultural void of the capital, Jep embarks on a melancholy journey in search of the "Great Beauty", which through "masks" and encounters with characters out of the ordinary, leads him to a sort of final illumination.
