Rino Gaetano

Rino Gaetano - Foto ritratto di Donatella Rimoldi, dettaglio

The great and unforgettable Italian singer-songwriter is the protagonist of an evocative exhibition hosted at the Museo di Roma in Trastevere, the rione of Rome, so dear to the artist, who performed at the historical Folkstudio there in his beginnings.

Curated by Alessandro Nicosia and Alessandro Gaetano, the exhibition is an extraordinary and unprecedented testimony to the artistic history of a songwriter who, with his pop sound but profound social commitment songs, profoundly influenced the musical history and style.

The exhibition path, enriched by the live performance of his nephew Alessandro Gaetano, together with the Rino Gaetano Band and Diana Tejera, winds through documents, photos, artistic memorabilia, the record collection, videos, musical instruments, objects, stage clothes - such as the bathrobe worn during the Festivalbar at the Arena di Verona and the leather jacket of Sanremo - posters, his characteristic hats and numerous rarities, courtesy of his sister Anna Gaetano.

Born in Crotone and Roman by adoption, Rino Gaetano was a brilliant and passionate 'storyteller' with a unique and raspy voice. His songs, including Gianna, Ma il cielo è sempre più blu, Aida, and Nun te Reggae più, are true music milestones that have inspired festivals, tribute bands, awards and have become TV series, film and theatre soundtracks, keeping to conquer generations for over forty years.

The exhibition, promoted by Roma Capitale, Assessorato alla Cultura, Sovrintendenza Capitolina ai Beni Culturali, is organised and realised by C.O.R. Creare Organizzare Realizzare, with the organisational support of Zètema Progetto Cultura, the patronage of the Ministry of Culture and SIAE Società Italiana degli Autori ed Editori, the media partner of RAI and the collaboration of Rai Teche - which preserves most of the artist's films - and Universal Music Publishing Group.
