The new edition of the Roma Summer Fest 2024, the summer concert series organized by the Musica per Roma Foundation, returns again this year to the open-air space of the Cavea of the Auditorium Parco della Musica. Considered one of the most important musical events of the Roman summer, the event presents countless artists from the national and international music scene who take turns on stage with a series of unmissable concerts.
This year the Summer Fest offers a program full of different sounds, featuring historic bands, universally recognized names in rock or pop, internationally renowned soloists and virtuosos together with younger artists and musicians who experiment with ethnic or electronic sounds to meet to the different tastes of a vast and heterogeneous audience.
The opening of this edition is entrusted to the group The National who return to Italy after two years of absence to present the two new albums The First Two Pages of Frankenstein and Laugh Track. Another great return - for a double date - also after two years of absence, The Smile, the group of Thom Yorke and Jonny Greenwood from Radiohead with Tom Skinner, with an extraordinary show where you can listen to the new songs from Wall Of Eyes, the their latest album. Another double date and another great return is that of Simple Minds; we also cannot fail to remember the presence of Take That and Deep Purple back on tour to play the classics that made them famous all over the world. In July Charlyn Marie Marshall aka Cat Power brings her new live album to Italy: Cat Power Sings Dylan: The 1966 Royal Albert Hall Concert, the re-enactment of one of the most legendary concerts of all time and many of the songs more revered than Bob Dylan; another long-awaited return is that of Marisa Monte, winner of the Premio Tenco Internazionale and four Latin Grammy Awards, acclaimed by critics for her ability to range between various musical genres ranging from pop to pop rock, samba, jazz and traditional music of his country. Also in July it is the turn of Canadian singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Loreena McKennitt who returns live to celebrate the thirtieth anniversary of the release of The Mask and Mirror, a historic album acclaimed for its intercultural contamination of Celtic, Spanish and Moroccan influences.
There are also numerous Italian artists in this edition, such as Colapesce and Dimartino, who arrive at the Auditorium for the Roman stage of the tour presenting the new album Lux Eterna Beach Estate, or The Kolors, the musical phenomenon of the moment, idols with new generations, who return after the great international success of Italodisco this summer. In September, however, the Roman artist Fulminacci arrives in Cavea for the first time, an artist of great versatility who has managed to conquer audiences and critics with his music in a short time. There will also be room in the program for great Italian author music: Cristiano De André, the only true heir to the musical heritage of the great Fabrizio, after the success of the four albums De André sings De André, each dedicated to a part of Fabrizio's repertoire De Andrè presents with #DeAndré Best Of Live Tour the best of the repertoire covered so far. Also awaited is the return after ten years of Loredana Bertè with the Manifesto Tour, while Massimo Ranieri presents the public with a show where singing, acting, famous songs, funny scenes and unpublished stories alternate with a new scenographic setup and unpublished works written by some greats Italian singer-songwriters. We also remember the two projects dedicated to Italian popular music: Super Taranta! the project by Antonio Castrignanò and Mauro Durante born in 2023 which brings together the most important personalities in the world of Salento pizzica, and with Ballo! (I dance!) the show - a project of the Italian Popular Orchestra directed by Ambrogio Sparagna, this year dedicated to the Vesuvian and Etna tradition, now in its fifteenth edition. Protagonist for a double date and one of the most international and well-known Italian artists abroad, Ludovico Einaudi returns ten years after the release on the trail of In A Time Lapse, one of his most beloved albums, in a new way with a new band instrumental.
There is also space for the great protagonists of jazz: it is in fact possible to listen to Gary Clark Jr in Cavea, the blues virtuoso who fuses reggae, punk, R&B, hip-hop and soul, winner of a Grammy Award and a true legend of jazz and funk who returns a year later after last year's sold out: Marcus Miller.
