Rome hosts the 36th Edition of the 2022 European Swimming Championships: one of the major international events dedicated to aquatic disciplines, as well as one of the most awaited events by lovers of this sport. After having been the world capital of swimming in 1994 and 2009, Rome is therefore once again the protagonist.
1500 athletes from 50 nations are expected for 77 finals with 231 medals up for grabs; many European swimming champions competing, including: Adam Peaty, Katinka Hosszu, Thomas Ceccon, Kristof Milak, Sarah Sjöström, Nicolò Martinenghi, Benedetta Pilato, Leon Marchand, David Popovici. The different competitions take place in various locations: at the Foro Italico - inside the Swimming Complex, hosting swimming and diving, in a temporary pool inside the Nicola Pietrangeli Stadium for artistic swimming, in courts 1 and 2 adjacent to the Tennis Club for high diving - and the sea of Lido di Ostia for swimming in open water.
