On the occasion of its 60th anniversary, in 2020, the European Championship will be itinerant: 51 are the races scheduled in 12 different cities.
Rome is the starting point of the event, with the inaugural ceremony and match on 12 June 2020, at the Olympic Stadium, which also hosts 3 group matches and a quarter-final. With Rome, there are a total of 11 host cities: Amsterdam, Baku, Bilbao, Bucharest, Budapest, Copenhagen, Dublin, Glasgow, London, Monaco and St. Petersburg, including 8 European capitals and 11 stadiums with a capacity of over 50 thousand places.
For Italy, it is the third time of a European Football Championship, after those of 1968 and 1980. For Rome, it is the occasion to host the inaugural competition, after having been the scene of two Finals. At the Olimpico, Italian fans can attend at least two Azzurri matches, while the third game of the group will be defined between Rome and Baku, the other city hosting group A, based on the qualification of Italy and Azerbaijan.
Rome is, together with London, which also hosts the semi-finals and the Final, a central venue for this great international event, the third for interest and value after the Olympics and the World Cup.
The volunteer program, which represents one of the fundamental points of the tournament from the involvement of the younger generations' point of view, aims to recruit around 1000 young people in each location. For all Italians interested, it will be possible to start the online application process in March. A unique opportunity to be part of one of the most important sporting events of all time, which will bring European populations into contact through football.
