Fulco Pratesi. Acquerelli Pionieri

From 16 September to 6 December 2026, the Museo di Roma in Trastevere is hosting an exhibition that explores the creative world of the founder of WWF Italy, an artist and passionate observer of nature.

Organised on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the founding of the Italian environmental organisation, Fulco Pratesi. Acquerelli Pionieri accompanies the public into the most personal dimension of a multifaceted man – architect, naturalist, writer, journalist, illustrator and communicator – who, for years, led some of the most important environmental campaigns and inspired thousands of people to discover nature and protect the environment.

Curated by Olympia Pratesi in collaboration with Isabella Pratesi, the exhibition path brings together watercolours, drawings, illustrated notebooks and travel notes. Combining scientific rigour with a poetic vision, the animals and landscapes depicted reveal Pratesi’s strong connection to the natural world, rooted in his careful observation, sensitivity, and dedication to its protection.

The exhibition is promoted by Roma Capitale, the Assessorato alla Cultura e al Coordinamento delle iniziative riconducibili alla Giornata della Memoria (Department of Culture and Coordination of initiatives related to Holocaust Remembrance Day), and Sovrintendenza Capitolina ai Beni Culturali (Capitoline Superintendence for Cultural Heritage), as part of the initiatives organised to mark the 60th anniversary of WWF Italy. Museum services by Zètema Progetto Cultura.
