The Vascello Theater presents the play Tragudia - il Canto di Edipo (Tragudia - the Song of Oedipus), a text freely inspired by the works of the great Greek tragedian Sophocles (496 BC – 406 BC) and by the tales of the myth, directed by Alessandro Serra.
The director chose to translate the Sophoclean's text into Graecanic, and from the musicality of this ancient-sounding dialect-language, he created song and dance, where the chorus and the characters of the story lead the audience to a captivated experience of a sort of ceremony that induces Oedipus to recognize himself and blind himself, tearing out his eyes, unable to see the truth. At the heart of the story is the condemnation of Oedipus, King of Thebes, destined to wander for a long time burdened by the guilt of having killed his father and joined his mother, until the revelation comes true and Oedipus makes his pilgrimage to Colonus.
