San Martino I papa (St Martin the First Pope) is a church in the Appio Latino district and has been a meeting point in the neighbourhood for young people and adults since 1965. It was refurbished with new flooring in the early 1990s, also because of the forthcoming visit of Pope John Paul II, which took place in early '92 and of which a marble plaque testifies. In recent years it has again been renovated with new lighting points and a bright area where the tabernacle has been placed, which is visible as soon as you enter the church and which does not detract from the charm of a modest neighbourhood parish, albeit in the shadow of the imposing archbasilica of St John Lateran.
