Santa Maria Josefa of the Heart of Jesus is a church dedicated to Maria Josefa Sancho de Guerra, foundress of the congregation of the Servants of Jesus of Charity, canonised by Saint John Paul II on 1 October 2000. The building was designed by architects Sharon Miura and Francesco Garofalo. The first Mass was celebrated there by the then Cardinal Vicar Camillo Ruini on 27 January 2001.The church stands in a square area of 80 metres sideways, straddling an unauthorised suburb and an economic and social housing zone plan, at the sixteenth kilometre of Via Prenestina. The hall faces the neighbourhood: it is surrounded on two sides by the churchyard on which the bell tower stands out as an extension of the façade, characterised by the screen of white cement panels that filter the light brought deep into the hall, up to the presbytery, by the afternoon sun.
