Chiesa di Santa Maria Immacolata a Grottarossa

It was built in 1935 by Ettore Molinario to meet the spiritual needs of all the workers on the then farm that gave rise to the village of Grottarossa. It stands along the Via Flaminia, at Saxa Rubra, where, in the year 312, the historic battle between the armies of Constantine I and Maxentius took place. On 2 November 1986, the church was visited by Pope John Paul II, who solemnly crowned a new effigy of the Immaculate Virgin Mary on that occasion.
The church is a parish seat, established on 4 June 1937. It is also the seat of the cardinal's title of Immaculate Conception of Mary at Grottarossa, instituted by John Paul II on 3 May 1985 with the bull Purpuratis Patribus.
