The parish of Santa Maria Domenica Mazzarello is a church in Rome located in the Don Bosco neighborhood. The parish was established on March 15, 1982 with the decree Le sollecitudini pastorali of the then Cardinal Vicar of the Diocese of Rome Mons. Ugo Poletti. First entrusted to the diocesan clergy of Rome, in 2000 it was assigned to the secular clergy of the diocese of Lodi and then returned, from September 1, 2012, to the pastoral care of the diocesan clergy of Rome. The current site of the parish church was consecrated on March 1, 1997 by the then Cardinal Vicar of the Diocese of Rome Mons. Camillo Ruini. The territory, derived from that of the parishes of San Giovanni Bosco and San Bonaventura da Bagnoregio, was determined within the following boundaries: Viale Palmiro Togliatti up to the intersection with the route of the equipped axis in an eastward direction, up to the height of the continuation of Via Quinto Publicio which runs all the way to Viale Palmiro Togliatti. The cardinal title of Santa Maria Domenica Mazzarello, instituted by Saint John Paul II in 2001, is linked to the church. Currently the titular cardinal is Monsignor George Pell. On December 14, 1997, Pope Saint John Paul II visited our parish community. On that occasion, addressing all the faithful, he said: Dear Brothers and Sisters of the Parish of Santa Maria Domenica Mazzarello! Your parish community finally has a worthy temple, inaugurated last March. You can now celebrate the liturgy with greater decorum, host children, young people and adults for Christian formation and evangelization activities. Your parish is a welcoming place, which calls the people of the neighborhood to the values ​​of the spirit. Here those who feel alone can find a family that opens its arms to them; here it is possible to meet Christ and experience the joy of brotherhood among those who believe in Him. The encouraging results obtained in these years with the grace of God and with the good will of all, far from slowing down your commitment, because you have finally achieved what has long been desired by all, must, on the contrary, make you even more determined to proclaim and bear witness to the Gospel.
