Au cours des journées ensoleillées, il est difficile de renoncer à une journée en plein air à Ostie, même au cœur de l'hiver.
Après une agréable journée en famille ou entre amis, nous vous signalons une déviation intéressante le long de la via Cristoforo Colombo. Une fois sur la route du retour, après quelques centaines de mètres, il est possible de tourner à droite via della Villa di Plinio. La villa mérite le détour.
Ce complexe archéologique fut trouvé en 1713 et identifié comme une villa ayant appartenu à Pline le Jeune (61-114 après J.-C. ). En 1933, le domaine de Castel Fusano fut acheté par la Ville de Rome. Les restes archéologiques laissent penser à une villa de bord de mer très spacieuse, comportant également un mur d'enceinte continu s'ouvrant sur la mer. Dans la structure, on reconnaît une installation thermale. La zone la plus intéressante comprend un sol recouvert de mosaïques en noir et blanc représentant Neptune avec son trident sur un char traîné par deux hippocampes et entouré de poissons, de crustacés et d'autres hippocampes.

To reach the site, it is advisable to park at the junction of Via dei Transatlantici with the Litoranea road, then walk on.
The walking route follows the entire paved road (Via dei Transatlantici) to the junction with Viale della Villa di Plinio, which you must take by turning left to an opening where the gate to the villa is (total length 1 km).
Admission to the monument is allowed to groups and associations, with their own guide, who must make a reservation at 060608 (daily, 9.00 - 19.00).
Maximum 25 people per visit.
