The parish is in the territory of the Diocese of Rome and is part of the Eastern Sector - XVI Prefecture along with the parishes of: Ascension of Our Lord Jesus Christ - God the Merciful Father - Our Lady of Suffrage and St. Augustine of Canterbury - Our Lady of Czestochowa - St. Bonaventure of Bagnoregio - St. Cyril of Alexandria - St. Francis de Sales at Borgata Alessandrina - St. John Leonardi - St. Justin - St. Mary Immaculate and St. Vincent de Paul - St. Thomas Aquinas. It has been entrusted since 1961 to the Carmelite Fathers of the Italian Province under the invocation of St. Elijah the Prophet, St. Albert of Sicily and St. Andrew Corsini.Since 2022 to govern the parish there has been a community of Carmelite friars from Brazil. The large parish church was blessed and inaugurated by Card. Vicar of Rome, Angelo Dell'Acqua on February 21, 1970. In its architectural lines and proportions it takes on the grandeur of a shrine: a monument meant to be a tribute of art and faith to Mary. It can hold more than 500 seated people. It is the work of architects Eugenio Montuori and Giuseppe Nicolosi. On the left side of the church - as a body in its own right - the 30-meter bell tower soars nimbly and boldly. Also on the left side is the baptistery, now converted into a reception center with the headquarters of the Camminare Insieme volunteer association. On the opposite side, to the right of the church, is the parish house with offices on the first floor and religious rooms on the second floor. The interior of the church, with three naves, is characterized by its reinforced concrete structures and walls covered with exposed brick. The nave is 68.85 meters long and 25.52 meters wide and 19 meters high. The square dome, at the tiburium, reaches a height of 24 meters, while the facade is 21 meters high.In 1975 the side walls were enriched with a series of eight large canvases (3 x 3 meters), where the chromatic values of the whole are enhanced, the work of painter Benedetto De Santis. It is a Gospel cycle (as in the tradition of the poor man's bible) that includes the following scenes, starting from the sacristy side: the sedated storm, the sower, the call of the apostles, the nativity, the garden of olives, the crucifixion, the resurrection, and the Emmaus supper. The chancel was completely renovated in the 1980s. It consists of the tabernacle (a world surmounted by the image of Christ of the Mountain) with a Glory of Angels on either side, the seat of the celebrant, the ambo, the baptismal font, and the altar. In the back is a small compartment that holds the reliquary. All bronze creations, unique and original works made especially for our church, are the work of artist Giorgio Fiordelli.Above, on the tiburium, two other double stained glass windows (with four scenes) adorn our church. They are the work of the painter Benedetto De Santis (the same author of the eight canvases along the walls of the church) and depict (starting with the first one on the left): the protoevangel (the first announcement of salvation to Adam and Eve), the annunciation, the adoration of the Magi and the assumption of Mary.Of outstanding artistic value is the large stained-glass window in the apse.It represents the Madonna, Queen of the world and Mother of Carmel (with the image of the book of Revelation: the woman clothed with the sun, with the moon at her feet and a crown of twelve stars); to the side, St. Elijah the Prophet, holding the flaming sword, inspirer of the Carmelite Order and St. Simon Stock, the saint who received the scapular from Mary. (The coat of arms of Pope Paul VI was added at the bottom right, not only because the stained glass window was made during his pontificate, but also because the Holy Father wanted to finance the entire work as a memento of his visit at Christmas 1971). It was made with dalles glass and measures 12.40 x 6 meters. It is the work of Professor Laura Giuliani Redini and was carried out by the company Vetrate D'Arte Giuliani of Rome. In 1993, work was carried out at the entrance to the church: two modern and functional confession rooms were created; a glass portal with the Tau and two copper holy water stoups. In 1997, a large statue of the crucified Christ was placed on the right wall of the church, obtained in an extraordinary way from the study of the Shroud by Monsignor Giulio Ricci. In 2006, the weekday Chapel was also completely restored, in which the Scapular of the Carmel of Saint John Paul II is preserved.Subsequently, the Chapel was enriched with a bronze bust of the Pope by Celestino Giampaoli (2011) and, thanks to the generosity of a family, with stained glass windows that take up the motifs of the Flos Carmeli (2015).For the 50th anniversary of its founding (2011), the Community put important works in the pipeline to commemorate the parish Jubilee: the moving of the ambo and the installation - in the tiburium above the altar - of seven large icons: Christ Pantocrator in the centre, with St Peter and St Paul at the sides; then two Carmelite Blesseds follow, Fr Titus Brandsma, a Dutch priest killed in the Dachau concentration camp, and Fr Angelo Paoli, the Father of the Poor, who is very well known to the Community. Two angels close the composition. Finally, a Marian icon was created and is placed on the presbytery: the image of Mary Domus Stabilis.
Last, in order of time, was the creation of the altar of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, which houses the statue of Mary, crowned by Saint John Paul II on the occasion of his pastoral visit on 14 December 1986.
