A new historical record for the Leonardo da Vinci airport in Fiumicino that surpasses all European airports, including major international hubs with over 40 million travelers. According to Airport Council International – the international association independently measuring perceived quality in over 200 airports around the world – in the second quarter of 2021 the Roman airport ranked first for traveler satisfaction, achieving a 4.65 rating on a scale of 5.
The new record confirms the levels of excellence of the main Italian airport that is becoming increasingly attractive for passengers and airlines. Digitization, safety, innovation and environmental sustainability are the pillars of its strategy. In addition to the biometric face check on Delta flights, which makes boarding operations faster and safer, the airport has for example launched the first Italian incubator for start-ups dedicated to the aviation sector and has confirmed zeroing CO2 emissions by 2030, well in advance of the European sector target of 2050.
