'Io combatto per te che lotti' (I fight for you who struggle)
This is the motto of 250 young judokas who, in order to support their peers battling with cancer, will fight on the tatami of the PalaLUISS - granted free by the LUISS Guido Carli University - for the 21st edition of the Trofeo di Judo Peter Pan.
The Trofeo di Judo Peter Pan (Peter Pan Judo Trophy) has now become a regular and unmissable appointment with solidarity and inclusive sport in Rome, and the judokas, aged between 5 and 11, from ten judo clubs from all over Italy are ready to get involved.
From 10.30 a.m., for the first time ever, you will be able to witness an intergenerational exhibition within the framework of the European research project JOY - Judo connecting Older and Younger Generation - judoka over 65 will exchange their techniques with the younger ones; among the participants, led by master Simone Ciaccioni, is Licia Talatin, Black Belt class of 1940.
A 100% solidarity tournament, because the spirit of the event, which over the years has seen the participation of more than 6000 athletes, will see the young competitors challenge each other not so much for the final victory, but to make their proximity felt and to actively help their friends who are living a moment of fragility and who, due to illness, are fighting for their lives every day.
The event is dedicated in particular to all the sick children who, together with their families, stay in the homes of the Associazione Peter Pan odv, which offers them free accommodation and assistance during their stay in Rome for treatment at Roman hospitals.
The contributions made available by the ten participating judo schools will be donated to the Peter Pan Odv association: www.peterpanodv.it
Thanks to the sensitivity of Maestro Franco Penna, CSEN (Centro Sportivo Educativo Nazionale - National Educational Sports Centre) provided the tatami and all the technical competition material for free.
Thanks to Master Antonio Di Maggio, however, the referees and jury presidents are convened by the regional committee of the FIJLKAM - Italian Federation of Judo Wrestling Karate and Martial Arts
Promoted by the Tomita Judo School, the Trofeo Peter Pan has the patronage of the Regione Lazio and the Assessorato ai Grandi Eventi, Sport, Turismo e Moda di Roma Capitale.
