8 March 2024 - Events and initiatives organised by Roma Capitale for International Women's Rights Day

Once again this year, the programme of initiatives organised by Roma Capitale to celebrate International Women's Rights Day is rich and articulated, and features events spread throughout Rome's territory, promoted by the Assessorato alle Politiche della Sicurezza, Attività Produttive e alle Pari Opportunità.

"8marzosempre" was created to highlight the strength, resilience and extraordinary achievements of women around the world for a fairer, more equitable and inclusive future for all, with the conviction that 8 March should lead to a daily celebration of women's empowerment.

The aim of this collective event is to give voice to the different experiences and initiatives that want to raise awareness on fundamental issues related to gender equity, manifesting a tangible and incisive presence in every corner of the city and creating an interconnected fabric of awareness and action.

8 March opens with a moment of reflection on Sostenibilità, sostantivo femminile (Sustainability, a feminine noun) hosted in the Sala della Protomoteca in the Campidoglio starting at 9 a.m.: a valuable opportunity to reflect on the challenges we face in creating a sustainable society, on the training of new skills necessary for transition, on the obstacles women encounter in the course of their careers, and on the possible contribution of female leadership to increasing productivity and organisational wellbeing.

The desire to be present with events throughout Rome symbolises a widespread and inclusive commitment to involve and inform citizens in the promotion of a culture of respect and equality.

The calendar was constructed by involving the Presidenza dell'Assemblea Capitolina, all the Municipalities, the Sovrintendenza Capitolina and the Rome Libraries to reflect on and promote gender equality.
