Festival Art Nouveau Week 2026

From July 8 to 14, 2026, the Art Nouveau Week returns, the major international festival dedicated to Art Nouveau and the decorative arts, promoted by the Italia Liberty association and curated by Professor Andrea Speziali. Now in its eighth year, the event brings to Rome a week packed with different activities, including guided tours, conferences, exhibitions, cultural tours, immersive and artistic experiences, dedicated to the Belle Époque and one of the most fascinating artistic movements of the twentieth century.

The project's aim is to bring the Art Nouveau back into the contemporary cultural debate, not as a minor style or decorative repertoire, but as an essential chapter in Italian modernity. The Art Nouveau Week 2026 thus offers a a key to understand the cities and to recognize the history of a country that sought the future through beauty.

The central theme of this year's edition is The Sea, a symbolic element that runs through the European Liberty imagery and becomes the common thread of a story dedicated to the relationship between art, landscape, tourism, and modernity between the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.

In Rome, the festival offers a series of itineraries dedicated to the capital's Liberty heritage. Among the scheduled events are a stroll through the Prati neighborhood, among villas decorated by artists such as Duilio Cambellotti and Alessandro Mazzucotelli; a visit to the Boncompagni Ludovisi House Museum, home to collections dedicated to early 20th-century decorative arts and fashion; and a tour of the historic center, from Palazzo Tritone to Paolo Paschetto's stained-glass windows in the Methodist Evangelical Church, and finally to the villas designed by Ernesto Basile in the Sallustiano neighborhood.

The program also includes a tour of the Coppedè district, Via Veneto, and Villa Torlonia, including the famous Casina delle Civette, one of the capital's finest examples of Art Nouveau. The "Art Nouveau Visions in Life Drawing" activities are also back, featuring urban sketching experiences that invite the public to observe and interpret buildings such as Villino Ximenes, Villino Cagiati, Villino Florio, and Palazzo Tritone, rediscovering architectural heritage through drawing and direct observation.
