The song of the giants

The show The song of the giants at the Teatro India skilfully intertwines Pirandello's writing - the novellas The changed son and Conversations with the characters, the theatrical text The Giants of the mountain, the libretto of the opera The tale of the changed son - with the music of Agricantus group. It is a very original show, which reworks the Sicilian and Mediterranean musical tradition with electronic music, harmonizing them with theatrical prose. Thus is born a dreamlike story that develops through the photographs of Letizia Battaglia and Shobha and the video contributions of Pippo Zimmardi, developed by a theater workshop held in the Real Casa dei Matti in Palermo.

The piece revolves around the events of a company of actors and musicians who travel around theatres, concert halls and squares to present The tale of the changed son to the public, in order to bring the public closer to the world of poetry, remembering thanks to a chance encounter, that poetry has no need for ostentation and vanity. There is therefore a writer in the midst of a crisis who would like to leave everything, an actress with the fixed idea that poetry can save the world and the "Unlucky", that is, a sort of court of miracles, women and men marked in the body and in the mind, considered outcasts by society, which puts us face to face with the deformed and crazy part of humanity.
