The free review Cinemente - The actuality of the myth at the Palazzo delle Esposizioni, combining cinema and psychoanalysis, offers the opportunity to enjoy watching films that address key points of human experience, followed by dialogue between psychoanalysts, directors and the public. The event, now in its 10th edition, constitutes an important event, transforming the Palazzo delle Esposizioni into a laboratory open to discussion.
The event focuses on themes that concern experiences of crisis or transition and this edition draws inspiration from the great myths of classicism, such as Oedipus, Medea or Narcissus, to find narratives that, up to now, have been capable of highlighting the constants of human experience. In fact, thanks to psychoanalysis, the myth has been transferred from the remote past to an immutable present, which is that of the mind: think for example of paternal sins, the absence of empathy, pathological jealousy, the obsession with possession, violence, to mourning and the many other painful experiences present in the myth that today's directors try to interpret.
