Jubilee 2025. The ways of faith. Testimonies of art and thought

The exhibition Jubilee 2025. The paths of faith. Testimonies of art and thought at the National Museum of Castel Sant'Angelo, curated by Mariastella Margozzi with the collaboration of Stéphane Verger and Cardinal Angelo Comastri, is promoted and organized by the European Centre for Tourism, Culture and Entertainment.

At the centre of the exhibition is the evolution over the centuries of themes and figures of sacred art, evidence of society's relationship with the religious sphere over the course of time, within a place like Castel Sant'Angelo, whose history is closely intertwined with that of the Church.

They range from the oldest works, such as those of Vittore Crivelli (1440 -1501/1502) from the end of the fifteenth century, to the most recent of the contemporary artist Omar Galliani (1954-), the only living artist and leading exponent of renewed figurative research, in over five hundred years of history. From the art of the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries with works by Orazio Gentileschi, Bernardo Cavallino, Mattia Preti therefore, we move on to the artists of modernity such as Domenico Morelli and Gaetano Previati, to finally arrive at the search for a renewed spirituality in those of the second half of the twentieth century such as Mario Sironi, Giacomo Manzù, Venanzo Crocetti, Pericle Fazzini, Giovanni Hajnal.

The exhibition is accompanied by a catalog published by Gangemi Editore with texts relating to the artists and works on display edited by Vincenzo Lemmo, Michele Occhioni, Laura Salerno and Riccardo Salvatori.
